OIL AND GAS TECHNICAL VOCATIONAL EDUCATION TRAINING (TVET) SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THE 2024 ACADEMIC YEAR
In view of the announcements of commercial discoveries of oil and gas in the Orange Basin offshore Namibia in Q1 of 2022, the revival of the long-awaited Kudu Gas Power Project and renewed interest in Namibia’s exploration acreage and related drilling campaigns, the Petrofund Board of Trustees has embarked on a strategy to ramp up the training of skills to support the further development of the upstream petroleum industry - Namely: appraisal, field development and production of these economy transforming natural resources.
The Board of Trustees is therefore pleased to announce the availability of oil and gas technical vocation scholarships immediately required by the upstream petroleum industry to support the current development interventions in anticipation of the evolving stages of the industry.
1. AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS
The following scholarships are available to high performing and motivated Namibians who are already working in the oil and gas industry or have an interest to work in the oil and gas industry, intending to undertake full-time studies in the following oil and gas technical vocational programs:
1.2. Drilling and workover crew
1.2.1. Roughneck
1.2.2. Derrickman
1.2.3. Assistant Driller
1.2.4. Driller
2. REQUIREMENTS FOR ROUGHNECK SCHOLARSHIPS
2.1. Namibian citizens aged 18 years or above;
2.2. Minimum of Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary Level with good passes in mathematics, sciences and English;
2.3. Certified copies of all relevant academic records & Namibian ID;
2.4. Willing to work 12 hour shifts offshore;
2.5. Self-disciplined, team player and cautious about safety and environmental protection;
2.6. Willingness to commence studies in Q1 of 2024;
2.7. Willing to complete, attend and pass further recruitment tests to be shared with shortlisted candidates;
2.8. Minimum of NQF LEVEL 3 qualification in any of the following:
Electrical Engineering (General) or Electrical Engineering (Millwright) or Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation and Control) or Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (Fitting and Turning) or Civil and Building Engineering (Plumbing).
3. REQUIREMENTS FOR DERRICKMAN SCHOLARSHIPS
3.1. Requirements listed in 2.1 to 2.8 above;
3.2. Able to work at heights.
4. REQUIREMENTS FOR ASSISTANT DRILLER SCHOLARSHIPS
4.1. Requirements listed in 2.1 to 2.7 above;
4.2. Able to work at heights;
4.3. Minimum of a National Diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering.
5. REQUIREMENTS FOR DRILLER SCHOLARSHIPS
5.1. Requirements listed in 2.1 to 2.7 above;
5.2. Able to work at heights;
5.3 Able to lead a team;
5.4. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
